The representatives of the Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance “Projects for the Digital Transformation (ProDiT)” Nargiza Mikhridinova and Carsten Wolff from FH Dortmund, Bertha Joseph Ngereja from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Mariano Alvarez Blanco (Siemens Industry Software NV, Belgium) have participated in the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI) Annual Conference 2022.
The conference was hosted by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) on 19-22 September in Barcelona, Spain. It was a unique opportunity for professors, students, industry, and professional organizations to exchange their views and meet their peers and create a European network of contacts. The topic of the conference reflected the objectives of the society and the priorities identified by its members: “Towards a new future in engineering education”, new scenarios that European alliances of tech universities open up.
On September 19th, 2022, the ProDiT consortium prepared and conducted a workshop on “Teaching Soft Skills for Engineers of the Future by Using Projects”. The workshop was attended by appr. 50 people. After the first part of the workshop on project- based learning and agile cross-border projects was concluded, the participants applied the Belbin’s test to later have a discussion on the results and their applicability in practice. Further, Mariano Alvarez Blanco shared a point of view from industry (Siemens Industry Software NV, Belgium) on soft skills and future engineers. Several discussions proceeded after the workshop and defined future research collaborations.
Later during the SEFI 2022 conference, the paper «Developing and improving competence profiles of project teams in engineering education», written by Nargiza Mikhridinova, Bertha Joseph Ngereja, Edwar Leonardo Sastoque Pinilla, Wim Van Petegem, and Carsten Wolff was presented, which initiated interesting discussions to further contribute to ProDiT project deliverables development.
